His memories involve in everything...

Who would of thought the Lily wanted to replace his younger brother after he was released!
Sounds crazy, your family has to be important to you like they are. Finally Jonas started taking his training seriously, then all of a sudden he starts feeling strange happy, sad, angry and anxious emotions. The Giver tells him it is part of the process, he starts wondering WHAT WILL COME NEXT, if this was hard for him! I really enjoy page 101 because Jonas, Lily and his father start talking about the connection between animals and humans and as example they use a stuffed elephant.
You can tell anything to them and they won't tell!
Next, The Giver tells Jonas about his major worry, WAR he had dreamed of war, he was very preoccupied because why is it really going happen, what will Jonas expect, feel and do about it.
What will happen to the community?
Is there going to be pain…

Jonas calls them destruction memories, they are part of the training. Then Jonas starts having strange dreams about boats and baby Gabe, things start to change not only with his memories but also with his ordinary life specially with his family. Jonas then figures out the what the good memories are like, LOVE, love is the perfect word to describe it, for the first time in the hole community someone understands the significance of love, he said it was something incredible!

In these part of the book, the author is taking more seriously the training, like the major issue and interesting parts are taking action right now. In page 116 when Jonas gives Gabe his new memories about such things, I felt like a sweet emotion, because I thought that finally it was the day were they new they had something in common and they are related. When I was reading I asked myself, when they have these bad or good feelings or memories what color do they mean?

Finally, right now in the book there is almost none Dystopia going on, because there has been almost none bad news in the society, science Jonas is like the new leader people start to think that everything is well done, and that everything is going to stay the way it is like always and that is obviously calmed and peaceful. Seeing it a different way, maybe there is a lot o Dystopia going on, because Jonas is experiencing new things, and what if he does something wrong, the entire community would probably pay the consequences, like in his dreams, feelings and most importantly in his confusing memories. What people believed in these case a brave man, could turn into a disaster with ought going back, Jonas has to start taking smart choices, in order to keep a safe community.

WHAT IS YOUR PERSPECTIVE ABOUT THE SITUATION? AND HOW COULD IT CHANGE ? WHY?

The rules changed his life!

Summary:

This book is getting each time better and better as I read. Finally Jonas found the rules he had to follow in order to accomplish with his job!
They were soared of strict, but the best part was that he was allowed to lie as many times as he wanted, and ask any questions. When he followed the first step that said go immediately to his dwelling, the old receiver of memories got to know better Jonas likes, dislikes etc. He started with a good relaxing training, Jonas had to close his eyes and at first this powerful connection made  him think, hear and predict strange stuff.  Jonas didn't feel anything, but the second time he did feel strange things, the training came harsh on him, he started to feel angry  and that was only the beginning.  Days when by, and Jonas had a question for the old man, he told that he was seeing weird things appear, and the man explained to Jonas that he will start to see the color RED which means he will receive memories of the future and past.
Text Response:

In these chapters I think that the author was trying to tell the actual feeling of Jonas when he had his first practice training, but not only with simple words, with actually expressing them as if we were inside his body.  In my opinion when I continued reading, axioms feelings came to me because I really wanted to know what was going to happen next… A little nervous too because what if Jonas didn't resist the first try out! I was thinking and i wondered What is the old receiver of memories going to do with Jonas old memories? why does he have to take some privileges from him? I had also a connection to my life, because like Jonas has his rules given to follow we also have by the government and we have the order to follow them, it is not an option at all or else we get punished so its not like it is a total new thing in Jonas world, when he read them, obviously they might seemed soared of strange or weird because there was all kinds of things he never got the freedom to do thats why maybe for a second many questions came to his mind.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, when I was getting to chapter 13 I started to compare the old man with Jonas because if you really think it, they are both nice and most importantly good, respectful and honest man and basically they are trying to do the best so they have a good year with excellence training, they are avoiding fights and more discussions so they focus, don't loose time and do a great job. So far I think that this has been the best reflection because it really presided me to keep writing, it brought me a bunch of interesting things and memories to talk about.

Previous Review

I really enjoy reading this book because it makes me predict, inference, and connect a lot like none other book I have ever read. Going deeper into the book, in chapters 5-8 amazing and shocking things start to appear in Jonas’s life.

Summary:

Jonas starts to get this strange dreams that all human people get at some point in their lives and her mom tells him that the best thing he can do is take some pills so he stops dreaming those types of things. Later on, Jonas and his family start to realize that something was going on with the new children "Gabriel" because usually babies stay in the Nurture for one year and then release, but he had to stay two years and no one knew why that happened, they steel think that maybe he is kind of special in the community. Asher comes then with his old stories about the secret dangerous river he used to hear a lot from people, he said that once people entered the river never appeared back again, and the worst thing was that no one could find a single sign that said where, when or why he/her disappeared. Obviously Jonas never believed in those things, he said "Somebody made that story up", but Asher was denying his point, he wanted Jonas to believe in these mysterious river. After days passed, Jonas started talking about the birth numbers and the ceremony of twelve, many people may not know but people not just pick or choose your number, it is according to the years you have lived in the community until you turn twelve, in that case Jonas was number Eleven-nineteen. Since there was two of them, Jonas had already turned into a twelve, and people would treat him then as an adult. Until finally the day came, THE "Ceremony of Twelve"everyone was anxious and nervous at the same time, but guess what Jonas wasn't called when his turn came, all of his friends and family started to wonder, from that point he was named as the "Receiver of Memory", and besides that he could use wisdom and other power from now and then.

Text Response:

I think that maybe the author was trying to explain us that this society has like its own circle where everyone has to stay on it and make it grow, so that way the values in people turn into a cycle that not only you receive but you also as well give, and it comes frequently so it repeats and that is basically why there is punishments because if you fall of this circle you fail and there is consequences so there is kind of like a good and bad side in these world and you have to stay focused to live with honor. Besides this, if we see it in the bright side everything is safe and organized, because of so much laws, but they also have the bad side, because the place in general is boring, you can't do much because there is very little of freedom and no fun places were you can go.

Going to my personal feelings about this book, I think that maybe in chapter 6 pages. (47-48) Jonas could of had taken the issue of the river a little more serious so he could warn other people and kind of like spread the word not just ignore it and continue with his normal life like he had heard nothing from nobody about a small problem that people used to suffer and could turn soon into a major issue, and ruin the society. Next up, "The Ceremony of Twelve" seemed like a big thing for the people in that type of world because it is basically one of the biggest times you have to talk about your life and things you now that may seem interesting or impacting to other citizens. When Jonas found out or never heard his number he started to freak out and he got so nervous he started to ask everyone why didn't they call him up! In my opinion Jonas needed to be nervous but a little less stressed because before maybe he was frustrated do to the speech he was going to give. At the end they tell Jonas he is the new "Receiver of Memories" and he got scared because maybe he thought it was all going to be about fights, in my place I would of been happy because it is like a special gift and they have chosen only one lucky person to contribute, the one who has all the bravery and the values to bring hope, I would also be a bit unworthy of my self because they tell him " We are convinced that Jonas has the ability to acquire wisdom" and the first thought that would probably come to my mind is war with power.

One quote that I wasn't really sure about was when Jonas said, "Release is not the same as loss", when he starts talking about baby Gabriel. At the end of chapter 8 in page. 64 one connection that came to my mind was that it reminded me of "The Hunger Games “when the main character volunteers as part of the main point of the story, which was the killing or death games and I connect it to when Jonas turns into a magic and new world, in the part when he hears that he has been elected as the new "Receiver of Money".

Final Thoughts and Comments:

To conclude this paragraphs, as I said this book brings me a lot of memories and I really like and appreciate reading it, because besides all of this it is really understandable.

Summary:

During the past days, i have been reading the book named "The Giver", from chapters 1-4. I would say that this book is very interesting and leaves us thinking a lot, because it has a a lot of mystery and scenes that makes you keep reading. The main characters would probably be Jonas the protagonist, his friends Asher, Fiona, Benjamin and Larissa , his parents and lastly his sister Lily. In the first chapters the narrator starts to talk about a small society that is controlled with specified and strict laws you are given to follow and if not you would probably get punished really bad so most of the people are kind, generous and respectful. In these community the rules are not that easy to follow, you are allowed to have only two children, one male, and one female, and your babies need to be given from someone else, they can't come from your own blood. People that live there are born with a controlled life, they decide who you should marry  and the worst part is that they choose your job, and I think that your work is one of the most important things you have to focus so you can have and live a good life. In these case Jonas gets to work like a Nurture, but he can't actually figure out why he got what he got and not something better or worst. After the days go by, Lily turns 9 years and do to the laws she gets a bicycle and classes that teach her how to ride it, they celebrate her and so on. A new child then comes to Jonase's fake family, his name is Gabriel and one of the characteristics that makes him special is his eye color, which is way more lighter then normal people have just like Jonas ones, so i think that people start to wonder if they are brothers. Besides all the laws, Jonas had some friends in his class Benjamin, the smart or clever guy and Fiona the peaceful and nice girl, they would always hang out by the day. In chapter 4 Jonas meets a blind woman named Larissa, and they would compete about interesting or people they knew about that told stories to them like, Roberto the impressive man or Edna the smart birthmother. In conclusion, that is practically what I have been reading, with a lot of details in these book.

Text Response:

In these paragraph I'm going to talk about my text response to the book. In think that the author is trying to bring us some kind of suspense, action and a lot of emotion while we read this book, because at first it starts with a complicated situation, then it becomes more lighter but at the same time a little of more issues, so you start predicting, questioning things and connecting it to your life or to thing you have seen, read or heard. In some parts of the book I find them hard to understand, but in most of them are really clear and I make a lot of inferences in each page, so that way a get a better idea of what is going on. Going deeper into Jonas life, I think that at these point of the story he must be really nervous with the new step of his life his was given, like his job, the new baby and all kinds of things that he never saw in his previous childhood, but at the same time a little calmed, because he says he enjoys helping people and it makes him happy specially when he goes to were old people live. Reading the book I question my self a lot and one of the questions that came to my mind in chapter 4, page 29 What happens when a person is blind in their community, do they get lees or more privileges?, in page 32 Why don't they let children into the releasing room? and in chapter 3, page 22 Why do mothers never get to see their born children?. I thought that chapter 4 was a really mean full and sentimental chapter, because Jonas starts to realize that if you have a fair and helpful life, you have earned it all, and I made a connection in page 30 when he is making sure the old grandma is comfortable and has all she needs to the times I use to go to my grandmas house and I brought everything she needed with a lot of love. One thing that I noticed was that Jonas and Fiona are similar when you talk about values and all of that, because they are both generous, honest, respectful and above all they are good people. Lastly, one of the things that I got confused on was at the beginning when they start talking about some visitors, what was their main point and by the middle why do they suddenly start talking about Roberto and Edna.

Final Thoughts and Comments:

To shorten up this paragraphs, I am really enjoying these book because it reminds me of some important things I saw while i was growing up, and it is really helping me with words I didn't understand or like with the fluency when reading out loud, and with the predictions I make, to understand why they are so important and lost of more things we talk in class before reading time begins.
